To help keep Mt. Monadnock safe and welcoming for hikers, the Forest Society and N.H. State Parks will be hosting the 16th Annual Monadnock Trails Week, July 22-July 26, 2022.

With just one last remaining mature Mulberry tree clinging precariously to the steep north bank of the Merrimack River in Concord, Forest Society staff have long-wished to plant replacements at the Merrimack River Outdoor Education & Conservation Area.

The land donation will add to the beautiful 1,090-acre Michael M. and Claudia Yatsevitch Forest in Cornish and Plainfield.

Hikers should follow designated trails, even through well-worn sections.

Three guided hikes to get members outside and learning more about history, forestry and stewardship.

The Hancock marker describes the Due family and Jack, a once-enslaved African who gained his freedom and lived in Hancock in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

The marker to be unveiled September 18 will be the first outside of Portsmouth on the Black Heritage Trail.

Thank you to the volunteers who gave nearly 350 hours of service over 5 days to improve trails.
